I've never experienced something like this.

I am sure I didn't forget my password.
I am sure I didn't forget my MacNN ID.
I am sure I didn't forget my registration email address.

But I just couldn't log in to MacNN.

So I wrote to the Administrator, got an answer that "my registration corrupted" and I have to register again.

So that means I have to appear as a "junior member" starting from July 2006 all over again. It's weired when you search "weimings" I can still see my old posts. But that SAME ID just vanished until registered again with the same name.

I hope this doesn't happen again.

Clear your browser cache and cookies and try again. It's probably just a corrupt cookie, and clearing all that will fix the problem.

ghporter: it sounds like he was able to re-register with the same old name (that he's currently posting with). That's a forum problem, not a local cookie problem.

Thanks, guys. Yes, I did register again with the same ID. Just hope the problem never happens again. But I still wonder if I'm the only victim from the forum system hiccup.

Which is the bigger question here? That forums.macnn.com for some most likely perfectly logical reason (like, there was no tea left or something) decided to skip straight ahead to cabeLname (whatever that is; I missed it)—or that you’re using Internet Explorer, and have tons of bookmarks in it?

Someone owes these forums at large an answer to at least one of those questions!

I would be totally pissed if my MacNN disappeared and I had to use Internet Explorer.

Everything is well. Small hiccup as we moved our server to a new IP range. It should respond now to both IPs (old and new) until old one is disabled.

best,

Yeah, I'm pissed, too.

My work computer (PC) blocks all browsers except IE. Can't start FF anymore.
