I realise my experience could be different to other peoples, due to the fact the adds now seem to be localised. So im seeing UK based company adds here. But they are those irritating animated flash adds. And there is rather a lot of them too.
I'd really not mind so much if it were not for the fact they are huge resource hogs. Its bogging down my powerbook hugely. CPU meter regularly pegs at 100%, the fan spins up, and the whole comp becomes ungodly slow. And even trying to close the macnn page can take a surprisingly long time. Often whole minutes even. Yes, its that bad.
This is on a G4 12" 1ghz powerbook + safari & 10.4.8.
Its ridiculous that adds should be such an incredible resource hog, almost to the point where it renders the comp unusable. Yes, i could use pithelmet to block the adds, but i find pithelmet interferes too much with perfectly legit stuff, and it certainly doesn't add to Safari's stability either, so I would rather avoid that. Plus im sure Macnn's sponsors would be happier if people were not having to block their adds too.
Something really has to be done about the multitude of irritating and system crippling adds that has been splattered all over Macnn recently. I very rarely have problems like this on other sites, bar AppleInsider, which i guess should not surprise me..

Btw.. Im not completely 'Anti-Adds' but come on, do it with some moderation at least please..
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.
