It does that to me as well, however it is wildly inconsistent. The only clue I've gained is I think it happens in bigger threads.

What do you have for your cache settings? After I used SafariSpeed 2 to turn of caching in Safari, most of my red dot problems went away.

It could be firefox pulling out the cached file instead of loading the new one. My internet connection is fast enough that it's pretty much just as fast to reload the whole page.
