Ok a brief bit of background… About a year ago I signed up to this forum, made a few post regarding putting a harddrive in a mac, I got some help, it was great. A few months later I returned to the forum, tried to login but could not, I tried the forgotten password thing and my email was not recognized. I then looked at my previous posts and found that my username had been changed from 'dreado' to 'jegiesek', on further inspection I found that there has also been a new post made by 'jegiesek'. I immediately reported this to admin. I got a reply back from suggesting that perhaps I was mistaken about my email address/username. After confirming that this was not the case I heard nothing more. Over the past few months I have been emailing to see if I could get any other answers, but have had no replies.

I decided to reregister, so at least I can start using the forum, and thought it would be worth posting this, to see if anyone can shed some light on the situation.

This thread is the one I started; all posts by ‘jegiesek’ were actually made by me as ‘dreado’. The best I can offer in terms of evidence for this is that I still have the email notifications in my inbox from when people replied to the thread.

I would quite like to get to the bottom of this, as I feel a little insecure about using the forum, thinking my account may have been hacked.

Not hacking, just a wonky database. MacNN had a major database crash a while back. If I recall, the accounts of all the users who signed up during a certain period got lost, so when new people signed up and were assigned the same IDs those accounts used to have, it suddenly looked like the posts were by them.

Ah right, thanks for the info.
I'm surprised admin couldn't tell me that

Huh? The admins have mentioned it several times before. That's how I knew.

I mean when I emailed them to ask what had happened.
Thanks for filling me in anyway.

For what ever reason the email facility here does not work (I don't think it ever did) Your best bet is PM them or post something here which of course you did.
