This has been happening a ton, especially in the MacBook/iBook thread. Most of the time it's a noob asking a question that the answer of which can be found in a thread on the first page. It's a bit annoying. Can we lock threads that are a certain age so that they can't bump all these old useless threads?

Can't we just point them to the right thread? It's not always inappropriate to revive an oldish thread.

But what about when they have a question (one recently was Santa Rosa in the MacBook) and resurrect an old thread to ask about it when on the first page of the MacBook forum there is a huge discussion about it. I think that they should be pointed to the right thread, but it's just a bit annoying how they revive old ones instead of going to one where a discussion is still brewing.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying. There are some old threads that make sense to revive though.

I brought this topic up last year some time.

There's a thread in the Mac Mods section from 2001

I found a 'fix' on vbulletin.org to stop this from happening, I would hope that the admins would consider implementing it.

ZH - Auto Lock Thread - vBulletin.org Forum

Just set it to lock threads that haven't been replied to for 6 months.

EDIT: The above mod is for VB 3.5, here's one for 3.6.
Automatically Close Old Threads After X Days - vBulletin.org Forum
