I have tried posting comments on news stories off and on, and I just tried again on this one, "Mac OS X on the exploit radar":

Well, it never goes through and I noticed a couple others posted their comments after I tried mine so it looks like it just disappeared forever. Is this a bug or am I on some kind of list that isn't allowed to post comments? I'm also wondering if these stories can be discussed in the main forums here.

I've noticed this a few times too. Just happens every once in a while, but it can be a bit frustrating.

Which comment? I just checked again and didn't see any of my comments.

I'm not talking about message thread posts here, but comments to the front age news articles. Take a look at this article ... and you *won't* see the comment that I posted there:

This occurs regardless of the OS or browser that I'm using. I've tried Windows XP, 2003, IE6, Firefox, Mac OSX (10.4.10 if you must know), Safari and Mac Firefox. I think I even tried Opera on my WM5 handheld. No dice in any case.

You can stop replying with links to pages where we wont see evidence either way of your comments not posting.

Actually there *is* evidence. The count of comments increments while the comment does not get posted.

Also: how is anyone going to fix the problem without concrete examples in the database to use for troubleshooting.

If you unsubscribe from the thread then you won't get notifications when new posts are made.

I figured out what the problem is.

I typically use MacNN in "legacy" mode because it's much easier on the eyes and less cluttered. HOWEVER: Apparently posting comments won't work in Legacy mode, only in "normal" mode.

Hopefully now that the issue is identified it can be fixed.
