After the Ignorant fighting thread finally got done with the nonsense and began to deal seriously with the topic at hand, it was locked.

Then, after everyone was being careful to talk only about the scientific and philosophical aspects of the Fuzzy brain thread, it was moved.

I suspect this is a case of selective enforcement.

Haven't mods been told about watching their own behavior in the past?

Who watches the watchers especially if one (which one I don't know) has repeatedly shown he really needs watching?

There was no non-political aspect of the brain patterns thread. The entire study in question centered around political divisions.

I know. It's like a full grown adult playing basketball with dwarfs. The only way to keep things fair is to keep the dwarfs and the full grown adults apart. The Liliputians can't handle any real intellectual challenges. And they get skeered when they bring on their own thrashings.

What you are too immature to understand is that if I can't post in the P/L I don't worry about what's said about me there.

I think your projection, however, reveals to the world what a very, very small person looks like.

Call it a win if you wish.

Enjoy it if you can.

Well, I don't have the option of punching people who make asses of themselves here, so reporting them is pretty much the only way to keep some people in line. If you don't like forums with rules, you're free to create your own and **** all over that place.

I'm not even sure why I'm interjecting here... but what the hell. I browse the forums quite and bit and participate somewhat... but it seems pretty obvious to me that the majority of people here can't really stand you abe.... so why do you stick around? Just curious really...

Do you think the scientists involved in the study discussed the politics or the science?

Pfft. I forgot! Why would I ask you?

Anyway, there was a lot of science to be discussed and that's what was being discussed before the premature ejection.

It's a strange little dynamic, really. One which exists nowhere else that I know of and it scratches a place in me that nothing else does.

And apparently what seems obvious to you is more than what you perceive. Or less.

When you look at my most well attended threads they regularly exceed 100 responses. If people got no reward from participating in my threads they just would stay away.

Then, you'll notice that when my threads go off track it's USUALLY due to some of the usual suspects. besson3c, turtle777 and Dakar.

And then when you look at the tenor of my threads where these posters don't jump in to hijack, such as the Romantic films thread, you'll see they stay on track and everyone has a pleasant time.

The fact that I think escapes your attention is that in these threads that get so large and people seem to be enjoying themselves (or else they'd stop posting there) is that they were cut short while still satisfying the needs of the posters. So that suggests that despite what they might say, their actions speak louder than words.

They enjoy it.

And I enjoy it.

And some here just can't understand it.

Know what I mean?

Huh?!?! I see it as a very small, but vocal, minority that doesn't like him. And I can see why. He shows them how their thinking is mentally immature and poorly developed.

And if you don't like a thread, stay out of it.

And if you don't like a poster, put him on ignore.

You don't visit every thread do you?

So when you see a thread by someone who you know is likely to rile you, why not just skip it?

The reason why is because you LOVE it.

I used this exact same argument about Rob, of course everyone who follows him around denied it wholeheartidly.

You rile people up on purpose so you can eventually show how superior you are at the art of argument.

I think you deserve most of the flak you get here, and you know it.

There aren't any posters here whose threads are likely to rile me. Even the ones I don't get along with very well don't tend to get me rankled all that often.

People have answered these questions enough that if it hasn't sunk in by now, there's really no point in explaining it again. Your forum can be the nice restaurant that lets smelly homeless people sleep in its aisles if you want — MacNN is a higher-class establishment with clearly posted rules. Your wishing there weren't rules will not make it so.

I think there should be rules, most definitely. I just don't see the point of rules in the Lounge, when they clearly haven't accomplished a single positive thing I can recall in my time here except create bickering about them.

If you think the rules haven't accomplished anything positive, you haven't visited enough forums. Aside from small forums where it's just me and a few friends, MacNN is one of the few that doesn't make me gag on drivel. The sig requirements alone make this place 700% better than the entire rest of the Internet.

so you don't know which mod moved it, but he might need supervision. if it was this mystery bad mod that did it. otherwise, forget you said anything. right.

your thread was political. it was moved to the appropriate forum. we appreciate it when people report threads that are posted in the wrong forum. you're just upset that it was placed somewhere that you can't follow. get over it.

Abe, as much as it hurts me to admit that, has got a point. If you carry on sparring with him, you give him a voice. If you want to minimize his influence just don't post anything in his threads. That way he can post, Railroader can congratulate him on his utter brilliance, Kevin can cut and paste one of his standard responses and that'll be the end of it.

Right? Hey, holdonaminnite. Did I just click on the reply button? Oh, damn......

I disagree with this assessment.

Most of abe's threads are flamebaits. Evene IF all members here would be self-disciplined enought to not post in those threads, I don't see a reason to have him continue baiting here. What's the point of it ?

I disagree with your disagreeing. Abe is dogmatic and narrow minded, but he isn't a troll. In his little imaginary perfect world, people would be agreeing with him and perhaps appreciative of his contributions.

A troll is somebody who invokes hot button issues and comes up with the most efficient combination of words just to get under peoples' skin. A troll is often hostile, and is uninterested in doing more than irritating people for sport.

Abe is just Abe. You should simply put him on your ignore list.

My point still stands. If you ignore posts that annoy you, Abe's or otherwise, then the authors get less of a platform. I mean, starting a bunch of threads only to see them disappear in a day or so isn't much fun.

He posted an article about the differences between liberals and conservatives.

It doesn't matter that he claims it was all about science, the truth remains he was making yet another dig at liberals in the inappropriate forum. It was moved to the appropriate forum.

Why must this even be an issue?

Why, oh why, do the mods allow these threads to continue on? I'm sure I wasn't alone in assuming right off the bat that this thread would turn into a trainwreck after a couple replies.

It's the same BS over and over. Move on folks, move on.
