Why are the rules for signatures so restrictive???

I'd also say that it would be kewl for you guys to allow avatars also. This place looks boring, we need to throw some color into the mix

<Definitive Answer> The rules about signatures are (as I point out to just about every sig rule violator) intended to keep the emphasis on the content rather than on what your favorite band, dog breed, sports team(s), zodiac sign, archaeological school, mother's quilting circle AND current song you're playing on iTunes are. There are forums where anything goes in signatures, and often there will be posts that take up a whole page for ONE POST because of the poster's enormous freaking signature. So there you are. The rules keep our focus on what you and I post, and make it so we have to be creative to get all that stuff in front of other people's faces if we want to do that.</Definitive Answer>

Not Rob-besson3c. We told him it wasn't funny with the first Butthawk nick, but when he decided to start another butthawk nick, he earned a short ban.

Butthawk was funny and a breath of fresh fart-air. BTW, I understand "butthawking" was not besson3c.

no really, his posts were funny and they were lighthearted and didn't hurt anyone. I understand the bans, but I still secretly hope to see him back again.

The title of the thread dissuaded me from entering.

You are correct on the latter part, however.

The funny part of Butthawk wore off pretty quickly. His original ego, besson3c, will come back at the end of his short ban, no doubt funnier than ever.

Yeah, he posted that other thread here in the feedback. Seemed very Rob like I didn't think he deserved to be banned though. It was whiny but since when did a whiny thread meant you'd get banned?

Well if you're going complain that's what you get. In this instance the term Feedback was being used to refer to the forum. Don't get pissed at me if you didn't figure it out.

Last time I checked, you're the pedant about language.

I haven't seen that show up-and I've had my sig picture on Imageshack for a long time... If you see it again, please PM me with when you saw it and what the error image said. I've been looking at changing my sig picture, but if it's not functioning as it is, I need to look at that first.

Laminar’s sig is currently broken (I think it was yesterday, too), but I haven’t seen ghporter’s go haywire.

I saw ghporters go haywire. It said that imageshack had deemd this site as hosting warez, spam and so werent allowing images to be posted on here.

I think this may have to do with ImageShack linking back to the "Pornstar Name" thread in the lounge and their bots assuming something. Stupid bots. Either way, I've contacted ImageShack with a demand for an explanation, and I've moved my sig picture to a different host. I recommend that anyone else with this problem do the same.

Imageshack bots are blocking sigs again in the "Swedish P*rn" thread in the Lounge. Same issue as before.

Edit: could a filter be added to change 'the p word' to p0rn or p*rn or something that the bots won't catch?

The filter idea would probably work. But for now, let's all just make sure we don't give the bots anything to complain about and self-edit such terms. Will that work for everyone? Probably not. But I'll post to that effect in the thread.

I like the repeated reminder that Imagecrap has a freagin' moronic filter mechanism that can be defeated by simple 1337 speak.

-which is part of the reason I'm planning on moving all my images hosted there to some other host. I'd rather have a more difficult to use host that doesn't get completely idiotic than one that's simple but dumber than dirt.

Having sigs not appear in a single thread does not seem like a problem we should hack around. So long as the sigs continue to work in all the other threads, let imageshack play their games? It's a small price for free hosting, and perhaps consumer complaints to them would be a better response.

I'd agree this is a hosting issue. If your host is being ridiculous, find a better one.
