Hello,
I would like to come out of my closet and present the facts to the jury of MacNN community surrounding Butthawk and his predecessor Not Butthawk1, and this unfortunate, tragic incident.
I created my first ever alter ego in creating Butthawk and he became an instant hit! I did not use an anonymizer email address or IP proxy service fully expecting that he would be traced back to me. Butthawk was created for fun and fellowship, but alas, he was made a martyr in a ban for "trolling".
This caught me off guard, as it seemed that being banned for trolling was like getting a ticket for speeding when you were actually j-walking. My rebellious side kicked in and I created Not Butthawk1 both to explain that I had no intention in going after anybody, nor was I trolling. Contrary to what ghporter has said, there was no dialog with me whatsoever, just the ban. The Butthawking nickname was not mine, but just an admirer of my work, I guess...
Now, I don't have an axe to grind. None of this is a big deal, and I will not be doing any unsanctioned Butthawking, but I would like to point out that all of this was handled piss poorly, and the great travesty of all of this is that Butthawk is dead! You guys killed Butthawk. I think the responsible solution here would be to give me blanket permission to create alter egos. I'm not Rob or some unwanted jerk or something, this is *besson3c* we are talking about here. Think about this.
I would also like to, once again, make the argument that the mods here as so busy enforcing the rules for the sake of having rules that they often times forget what these rules were actually designed to accomplish (this time is an example). The no simultaneous nickname thing is to prevent people from going after other members in a vindictive fashion, no? Well, Butthawk also didn't have an axe to grind. He was a sweet gentleman. What harm was done in this alter ego? Absolutely none. If the mods really did want Butthawk to stop doing something, a little communication would have sufficed.
Again, this is not a big deal, but this is exactly why many MacNN members and former members have been whining about how things are run around here, I think. Loosen up, fellows, don't take your jobs or this place too seriously. A little fun never hurt anybody...

I'm not looking for a big argument Dakar, I really don't care about any of this stuff much at all... A little communication would be nice, but whatever....

That's what you always say after typing out a big block o' text. That said...

I don't make a note of things in feedback, but I honestly hear this from banned posters often.
Edit:
I think the responsible solution here would be to give me blanket permission to create alter egos.
This is either one of your poor jokes or your poor judgement. I think them letting you get away with your crappy threads has gone to your head.

ROFL ... you've got to be kidding? You LIVE off this stuff. Why would you create an "alter-ego" and then yet another when the first is banned. Dude... you need a hobby or two away from the computer.

I just want to be heard, understood, acknowledged, so that we can move on. I don't want this to go on and on and on or to make a big stink about this. I'm detached from the situation, but expressing myself is always important to me, which I've already done here.

I was having fun entertaining you clowns! Fortunately, there are always new ways to manufacture entertainment. Can I kick you in the nuts? Just asking. I'll let you kick me in my nuts...

I think this is a cheap shot. Maybe you should be banned?
If you were to ever create your own threads rather than ride on the coat tails of others and their fine threads, I'm sure your threads would be lousy. You have a lot to learn about thread creation which you can learn from observing me. Your threads about how much you like My Little Pony don't count!

At this rate, this thread may very well get locked without actual discussion.

Okay, I shall attempt to focus this thread...
Enforcing rules for the sake of enforcing rules just because without taking into account the purpose of the rule = a bad idea.
