Is there any plan to enable OpenID on MacNN? The general idea is that people can have one User ID for all of the low-risk/low-security web sites. It seems to be spreading:
http://openid.net/foundation/
I did notice a page somewhere that said that the Open ID group would like the designers of this BB software to implement it, so maybe MacNN has to wait for that???

Not a good idea (if it'd be mandatory). Doof does not want to be tracked across teh intarwebs.
Plus, of course, how does this system handle it when someone already has the user's nick on a new site? i.e. I go to forums.hottotty.com and there's some thieving charlatan gentleman already decided to use the nick "Doofy" there?
Plus, of course. How many times does one actually log into such sites to actually make it worth while. How many times have you guys logged into the NN? Doof has logged in probably about 4 times total - and only then due to a major cookie-loss incident.

<personal opinion>I don't think it's a good idea, I have privacy concerns. Also, since browsers memorize passwords, unless you tell them not to, it's not as if you have to juggle with 10 passwords (Keychain is my friend). I don't see the advantage.</personal opinion>

OpenID doesn't have anything to do with the handle you use. I could go by Chuck here and Oggie at WindowsNN and still use the same OpenID login. It's just a method of authentication.

My last job had me at 3 or 4 different computers every day, which had me logging into Gmail, two or three forums, Dropbox, Instructables, etc. at each computer, which meant typing a name and password at least 24 times a day...I would have loved a service like this.
