I don't know the lingo for this but when someone puts there mouse over each post, a yellow box will appear with the first post written in it. But you don't have to click on the post for the box to appear. I don't like clicking on each post to see what they are about if I need more information than the title. I hope somebody knows what I'm talking about.

I know in the last post about improvements i asked why but this time I am really confused. What is wrong with this? Who does it give a disadvantage to?

If I recall, it was considered annoying because people unintentionally hover over things a lot more than they realize and then you have a big, obnoxious tooltip blocking the post listing that you didn't even want.

(How's that for a run-on explanation?)

i disabled it for the reasons Chuckit outlined above. it got in the way and was more of a nuisance than it was helpful. a small minority of members liked it, but we sent rabid ferrets to their homes and they, around the same time, stopped calling for this feature.

Yeah, other forums I visit have this feature, and it's nothing but a nuisance. In the time you have to hover over a link for an incomplete preview of the first post, I could easily have just clicked on the thread and had the full version load.

I was drinking my coffee when those ferrets arrived at my house. It wasn't pretty.

Just wondering how the spray on bed liner worked for you as a keel guard. I just bought a new 18ft cat and none of the keel guard mfgs. said ther product

would work due to the keel resting on bunks. thanks with QWIKLINER.

john35 is a somewhat confused Q&A spammer. It's a sad story, where we got his better half earlier in the Arts forum. So he came by to help pimp spray-on truck bedliners, but couldn't find the original post. I suppose even spammers come to Feedback after a post disappears.

Not to worry though, he's been reunited with his girlfriend in a suitable place.

I have been on other web forums and I like being able to see the first post before click on the thread. I vote in favor of this.

It may be useful if you're looking through a list of topics to try and find the answer to a specific technical question or problem, but in a place like the Lounge where the first post is usually the least important post in a thread, it's irritating. And based on where I spend most of my time, I vote no.

Dumb question: Can this be written into user preferences?

That should be entirely possible.

Possible, mind. Not necessarily feasible, given the fecked-up way vBulletin has of hiding everything in obscure places and cross-referencing everything half a dozen times before you find the original, and using obfuscating templates for all and everything. But definitely possible, technically.

What you need is a mouse with thumb buttons for back and forward:

I don't see how that even remotely helps to accomplish what Pretz wants.
