Anyone else think there are WAY too many forums on MacNN? You have to click on so many different links to see what's going on! Many of the forums are very small - could they be integrated into other forums?

In hardware, what about just one forum for desktops and one for laptops. Or even just one hardware forum! I'm not sure if there are really different needs of people with an iBook vs. a PowerBook, or even iMac vs. other desktop Mac.

There is a lack of a general discussion area about Macs. The lounge is for anything (even non-Mac stuff), and the hardware forums are machine-specific. How about a "General Mac Discussion" forum, so that the lounge could be everything not Mac-related?

I do like the distintion between trouble-shooting and general discussion. Maybe there could be two forums, trouble-shooting and general discussion, in each of the categories (i.e., hardware, software, and OSX). And one "Rumors" or "Speculation" forum would be nice.

I know there are lots of request for a new forum on everyone's special interest, but I think if they were all more general, there would be less interest in creating new forums.

Anyone else like a more free-wheeling approach?

i'd like to see the OS X server, PDA, and linux forums disappear completely while the OS X developer forum should be merged with the plain old developer forum, and macs in the media merged with the news forum.

the product line-based forums, however, should remain as they are now.
