Strangely enough, I can get into and post on most of the boards, except for OS X - General Discussion, which just hangs until it times out.

Judging from the time of the last post, it can't be because of traffic in there, can it?

(Just in case you hadn't noticed yet - I've noticed people have the strangest tendency to think admins are telepathic and "just know" these things... )

Thanks for the heads up.

Unfortunately, there's really no fixing this problem until the new hardware and mod_perl is installed, which aren't right now. The problem is basically that *every time* someone requests a page from ultimatebb.cgi, UBB calls the perl command and has the CGI script parse *each and every* forum listing and page dynamically. While this allows for things like dynamic search index updating, it also makes the forums unbearably slow.

So the bigger forums simply don't work at times, and unfortunately, a recalibration doesn't do it anymore. As a result, there's nothing I can tell you but to just bear with us for a few more days.

You can click the the title of the last post and actually get that thread quickly enough, but the actual "OS X - General Discussion" index page seems to be broken. Clicking on it's link from within the thread produces the same timeout of request http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ulti...=forum&f=3
