Exibit A

There are plenty more where that came from. That's the latest.

I think i'll speak on behalf of MacNN members when i say we need to do something about this guy. He's trivializing MacNN. I post toasters humping each other...i admit it. But it's in the right thread and people are expecting that stuff in there. I spend time crafting those animations so each hump is just right and the toast pops out at just the right moment. He just has nothing to say, and he's making posting seem cheap. I think he's trying to get "stars" or something, I'm sorry but everyone of my stars are like 10 of his. I may participate in the goofy threads but i answer questions for newbies too and attempt to be helpful..

I know this is the second thread devoted to stop him ( not counting the one he started for himself in the lounge) from acting weird. No offense buddy but you should discard "JoeG4" and re-register and act like a normal human being. Otherwise i suggest the moderators do something about you.

I will agree with APU's sentiment. There is some sort of problem here. I could care less if he's just posting for stars, but at least try and make it meaningful. Half the crap he spews is nonsense. I went away this past weekend. On Friday, Joe's post count was in the 350 range. Now, it's 450. That's a problem...
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

If they are not able to get rid of Ca$h then how are they going to do anything about Joe?

Every animal has its hind quarters, the forums are no exception. The question is: is Joe the left and Ca$h the right or vise versa?

Methinks he's just a bored 14 year old with some nice Mac hardware his parents bought for him. Personally, I post on the hardware I own and when I can say something interesting or helpful. OTOH, posts like this (scroll down a bit to see his) are crummy to read and annoying. He doesn't even own a PowerBook! Anyway, I'm sure this thread will get locked since it's about a member, but I wanted to get my $.02 in before then. It's quality, not quantity! 450 (low quality) posts in 60 days is pretty ridiculous.

Ah yes, the celebrity death match between JoeG4 and Ca$h. Taking bids...

But seriously, how fast did this guy's post count reach the high 400's? Does this kid have a life?

Ca$h would win; Joe's 14.

He does have a life. He has a G4 tower (dual 800-megahertz processors) and a Cinema Display.

Then Seanyepez replied:

How does that contribute to the thread?

I would appreciate if you kept the spamming out of the PowerBook forum, Joe.

My comment:

I noticed that! I own a powerbook! I have a tibook 500 and i use it as a desktop replacement mostly. If i bring it to work...i plug it in. That means i have no idea what the battery life is on my own powerbook. thats why i didn't participate in that thread! I had no idea...so i sat back and learned something about my own equipment. JoeG4 just comes out with ornery comments that disrupt a serious thread. It's like he's playing around with people.

JoeG4 will probably discover this thread and think i hate him or something...but i don't. I could care less. He has i believe a dual 800 w/ cinema display. I am planning to get a desktop setup like his after 03' and I think in the future he may have something to say. Come on though...stop posting so much right now .

Here's a link to the first thread that tried to get him to stop posting so much.

Apple Pro Underwear from that thread:
i find the existence of a thread dedicated to you in a negative manner in a forum that doesn't get many sustained threads going strong quite funny

but i don't think any less of you.

Apple Pro Underwear now:

That was like 3 weeks ago. I thought it was funny at first and didn't care at first too much...now i'm starting to get a lil annoyed.

I bet we've ALL been in the mess where we've always wanted to get to a certain number of posts (like me, for instance). Alkthough I don't blame him, I will agree that he should put a little more effort into his posts.

I personally find ca$h much more annoying than JoeG4, which is saying something. The guy(?) is full of insults for everyone on the boards, yet the mods do nothing. Sure... put JoeG4 and ca$h in a steel cage, but I say break ca$h's kneecaps first to even it out (that's sarcasm for the humor-impaired). It's people like that which make the forum a negative place.

like wanking, this is something people just don't talk about or admit to. Just for the record - I never wank and I don't care about my post count.

I employ a very simple concept: I ignore posts and posters I don't care about. Replying to these guys feeds their egos, and gives them the attention they desire. I'll admit Ca$h has hooked me a couple of times, but I now ignore what I don't care about. Some of these people are thrilled to get feedback, whether it's negative or positive, as they have little of a life. I'm active on a bicycle forum as well, and a flame war erupted there late last year over a weenie who posted a bunch of inane drive, and he was driven out by ignoring him. He no doubt found another group to annoy.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Good words to live by, yet sometimes it is hard to ignore when they become embroiled in a discussion one is already participating in. I'd go for a MacNN Thunderdome... let 'em flame each other while we watch.

Kinda like my request for a "bitch and moan" forum. That way most of us can enjoy watching people battle out their frustrations, their problems, and their anger so most of us here can have fun watching it.

Basically, what he said

Star-boomes are a pain in the ass, no doubt about it, but I personally don't think JoeG4 is any worse than some other people on these boards, I can think of other people who've accumulated like 200-250 posts in less than a fortnight. You just have to learn to filter out the drivel (if thats what you want to call it). Ca$h? Yeah he can be annoying as hell sometimes, but quite witty at others. Just don't mention the word Neon anywhere near Ca$h!

What I find more annoying though are things like people replying to posts with huge pictures in them and including the picture (especially when it was only one or two posts above), people whos grasp on the English language is even worse than mine (obviously except those people for whom English isn't their first language), people who repeat themselves in single posts, and (like what Cellery said) I don't like people who post in threads, replying to things that they don't have any experience of (although admittedly with a platform like the Mac there are a large number of transferrable skills).

Joe's harmless. Let the guy have some fun. Eventually PBD got a clue, and so will Joe. Ca$h? Hopeless. He'll never change, but he's still allowed to post.

Exactly right. That is, unless the administrators begin to have problems with the spam on their server.

Fine. I just can't believe he's doing this for stars.

I have never even thought about stars before. When i first joined MacNN with my original name : "jackdaddy"...i think i asked what do they mean because i had no idea. After that though i just post when i feel i have something to say. I think it's because i have a 56K modem.

i'm currently animating a aol logo humping a microsoft logo, so i gotta go back and finish that up.

That's probably the only recognition he's ever received. Maybe he will feel special being an "Elite member" (he's not that far off from it either).
