Ads not loading causing slowdown?

The ads at the top of the page have stopped loading in the past few days. I have also noticed that the forums have slowed to a crawl in the same timeframe. Are these 2 events connected somehow?

Yeah, last night and today I was having a heck of a time getting anything on MacNN to load. Then I told my browser not to load graphic files, and now it's running pretty much normally (except there aren't any graphics, obviously)

Noticed that yesterday. Took ten minutes to load the main page.
I shut off grafix autoload and now it only takes a minute or two to load a page.
Good thing I've got a second monitor to play solitaire on while I wait...
sheesh

it appears the ad on the front page has been removed.
i emailed Monish about this an hour or two ago, so i'm guessing he's getting to the bottom of the problem right now.

I see what y'all are doing...
just fired up OS X and Internet Exploder and the pages open almost instantly... with full grafix.
I'm not ready to leave OS 9.... don't make me doit
