I was in an airport lounge the other day, and I went to the business center to surf the web (waiting for a delayed flight). The screens there were 800 x 600. I loaded up MacNN, and I think I saw maybe two lines of news. The rest of the screen was filled with ads.

Come on guys, not all news sites have tons of ads! ArsTechnica (not a Mac site, but a tech news site), RedHerring and others have about the same amount of ads, but they are eaiser to read then MacNN on a small screen.

The best Mac sites (as far as ads go) are Macintouch and Macnews.info. MacNN, you could learn something from these two sites: they have almost no ads (none for macnews.info), and you can actually read a signifigant portion of the news on these sites on a small screen.

On the positive side, at least you guys don't have the dreaded pop-under ads.

Thanks for the feedback; we're trying to figure out what ads we can eliminate to make our pages easier to read.

I assume you mean the news page? Forums are quite reasonable, I think.
