I am wondering how secure the passwords we use for the site are. Can they be accessed by any of the mods (are they in a plain text file)? Just wondering since I use the same password for several sites. Not that I don't trust anyone at MacNN, just wondering.

Its my understanding that UBB5 saved passwords in plain text, but I could be wrong, and I don't know about UBB6 - they may be encrypted.

Either way, the only people who can view them are the MacNN administrators.

Since there is a cookie set with your password in plain text, I am pretty sure it is stored as plain text in some file.

And the usual: Never use the same password twice, and if you really want to use same passwords for things you have access to, then make a difference between places like here where they only provide a low security and basically just prevent others from posting with your name and your bank account.
