Hi,
I noticed this when posting to the image association thread in the lounge:

After you post a reply to a multi-page thread, your browser is redirected to the first page of the thread.

Would it make more sense to go to the last page instead? I end up checking on my UBB code after I post. Loading the first page seems like a waste of bandwidth (yours and mine).

Thanks!

This has been discussed before, the admins continually say they'll install the anchor hack but never do.. AppleInsider has it though

One more vote for this.

It would also be good if the same could be done for the comments on MacNN news articles, although as I've said before I think they should be scrapped and just linked to new forum threads instead.

I agree as well. This is something that has bugged me about the system from day 1.

Yes, I think it would be a great addition.

Yeah I posted this idea months ago but nothing came of it.

rjenkinson: that's really a wonderfully insightful, hilarious picture. you should look into standup. brilliant stuff. all based on ... no real knowledge whatsoever! fantastic! =\

...in any case, I'll look into the anchor hack (really, this time...). Also, some fairly large UBB upgrades are coming in the next several months (we're waiting for Infopop to release UBB 6.3.x), which will add some improved search features, slightly improved performance (although you probably won't really notice), ability to add custom smilies, custom member levels (built-in), recent visitors (like who's online, but way better), polls, and some other snazzy stuff.

It'll be another few months, since they haven't even released the software yet, but that'll be a *great* upgrade when we get it in. Stay tuned...

it just seems like every time this feature is suggested, someone says they'll look into it, check it out, think it over, or what have you.... and nothing happens. you're aware of this too, since why else would you write "really, this time"?

It's obvious that this feature hasn't been added, but generalizing about what does and does not get done on the boards is rather irritating. Back when we first installed UBB 6, we installed a large number of hacks based on reader feedback. =P

[edit]

In any case, I just hacked it in.

enjoy

Yeah. We kinda have to wait for them to get the upgrade out of beta first.

I really like being taken back to my post--it's so convenient.
I also wanted to say that I like being able to click on the last person to post to a thread and being taken right to their post. It's great when you've already read the previous posts.

I miss that feature on other message boards.
