This was the notice on the front page for the past few days

We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with logging into the forums. We are aware of the issue, so emails regarding this matter are unnecessary. Thank you for your patience in this matter and your continued support of MacNN.

Some people couldn't log into the forum with thier user names and passwords over the weekend. I had written to the admins prior to the above notice being posted.

It seems that that notice is gone, but I still can't login under my original name. I don't mind so much losing the name but I totally lost my member status as I nearly had something like 2500 posts

Will I ever get my old name back? Could I at least get my old post count back? I'd at least like to *know* if I'm having to start out all over again from square 1 or if this will ever be fixxed. I'm still trying to login under my old name and it's getting kinda *old* so it'll sure save me alot of putzing around.

I'd imagine that if they can't get your old name back, they could restore your member status and post count with ease. Remember, JoeG4 went from ~450 posts to negative 90 with no problems at all. If anything else, your new name is age appropriate! Also, if they lost your account maybe you can have them throw in a few thousand extra posts and some of those nifty Cipher stars.
