First off, I know this doesnt belong here but i figured this is the first one on the list so it will get your attention the easiest.
Is MacNN slowly going away like AppleInsider did? I as well as many of you have noticed that macnn.com, os.macnn.com, forums.macnn.com, etc. have been failing of late. All day yesterday MacNN was not updated. Come today, I cant even get to the page. It just sits there. I know its not my connection since I have a direct 125Mb pipe to the internet here at work.
I am an avid reader of MacNN and dont want to see it go away. I am asking everyone who would like to see MacNN get its act together, write some comments in here. Or email MacNN. I have got the feeling that MacNN is going to fade away just like AppleInsider did.
I have seen a slight improvement on forums.macnn.com though.

I was curious as to how long it would take someone else to comment on this. I noticed the same thing yesterday. I tried from both home and work with the exact same results that you got. Still can't hit the page today.

I just emailed MacNN and I got this back from them.
No, we're just experiencing some bad server trouble. We should be back up
fairly soon.
Major hardware/core OS failure, basically, and the database server crashed.

MacNN seems to have a server problem every 2 weeks. I don't know why all the other Mac sites have no problems at all. Maybe MacNN are on some real crap servers and are to lazy to switch.

Thanks all for posting your concerns.
Rest assured that these temporary, albeit damn frustrating, challenges with the new server do not (repeat, not) equate to MacNN fading away a la AI.
I'm moving this to Suggestions & Comments where it belongs. The site admins are keeping us up to date on the progress here and here so stay tuned.
In the meatime, TIA for the patience and for posting topics like this in S&C where they are sure to be read and taken very seriously.
Best,

I'm a little confused about all this -- we're very aware about the speed issues with the forum server, but we haven't experienced downtime for a very long time, and the news page has been solid and loading fast for the last several months.
What exact downtime do you mean? This is the first time there's been a news downtime in months.
