Not to jump all over anyone, but the forums haven't been touched for a very long time in terms of how it functions. We got UBB 6 and everyone was heppy. Lots of things changed and everyone was suggesting stuff for a few weeks. We saw results, we were happy, we saw the list of "Things to do," we were happy... but now... where has that list of things to do gone?

Personally, I want search to work. If it works for others, then tell me how you got it going, cause I'm lost here. I also want "search by member name" instead of number, when search is fixed.

I'd also like the "Edit post" page to be fixed up. It looks horrible and it hurts my eyes.

There are lots of other little things, but that's about all I want. Really, if searching worked I'd be happy> I can't search anything and it's hard as hell to find threads from last month when you don't have to click through the pages.

I also want to know how to access someone's profile. This is OT, but I'm curious. How do you do it? Maybe that could be hacked in, like the "member rating" thing was... it took you to the profile at least.

That's about all. Thanks.

Hmm. I started working on the things to do, but I stopped, for a reason.

When Monish installed UBB 6.0, he installed every file in the same directory, which made it extraordinarily hard to manage. I've tried moving files to more organized categories of folders, but that didn't work (UBB complained... It got into some sort of Catch-22).

Then news of a new forum server. With that, I could install UBB in the suggested way, and hopefully prevent some of the problems that are popping up, some also caused by the fact that the machine isn't configured properly and that it's getting much more traffic than it can handle. Of course, that would lose all of the modifications, and I'd have to do 'em all over.

Trying to figure out why search isn't functioning is difficult when it takes ten minutes just to load a page. I wish I could fix that, but in the server's current state, it's futile.

Each day, the forum server is one day away. Odd...

I think I'll add a Who's Online and fix the edit page soon, because I'm barely believing there is any intent to -get- a new server.

Thanks for all your effort, Parallax. I understand it's a thankless job, and people fail to give you the respect you deserve for the effort you put in.

Yes, it is a thankless job, but well deserved.... please tell us what, exactly, you do.

Ditto. Get off your asses. Fix the server. Get a dual processor mac, not some POS PC.
