Whichever mod changed my signature to what it is now, thank you! I actually like my new signature, I think I will keep it that way for a while...

You sure it was a mod, and not your schizophrenic self ?

It's not like you needed excuses in the past to start new threads...

You're the one who uses Twin, probably because you like twins so much. Did you ever find your remote control?

No, the mods have hidden it.

Mods, hypothetically speaking if I were to precede the buttons in my old signature with:

fake icons --> *the icons*

would that be okay? I'd be warning all MacNN users not to click on these fake icons this way.

Is it true that all people classed by the MacNN forums as Clinically Insane, are in fact clinically insane?

I've always considered myself a rocker, and I haven't moved anyone's cheese, changed anyone's sig - we tend to just delete offensive sigs or those that otherwise violate our rules.

And turtle, it looks like you misused "schizophrenic." It does not mean the same as "schizoid," which itself is a depricated term in psychology.

But your new sig has your name misspelled.... You at least ought to fix that.

(And I missed your old sig that got changed. What was it?)

The old sig was reported to us because the images added up to ~280 pixels wide.

I know you're not supposed to divulge who did it, but I have no problem admitting it was me.

I guess I deserve some of that thanks then, since they might not have done it if not for me.

(BTW, I would have made some coin if I'd been allowed to bet on whether besson'd start a thread about it)

It's kind of ironic how something so utterly harmless and petty such as the excessive width of my signature resulted in a happy ending. All is well that ends well!

Hey Dakar, maybe we should partner. I do stuff, you bet, I take a portion of your winnings?

It's also funny that the sentence about the gerbil is much wider than the buttons were! If you guys really want the thing to be a certain width, just constrain the space via CSS.

I think I'm being punked.

How many non-harmless, oversized sigs would we have to put up with if we allowed for a variance? The point of a "rule" is that it's standard for everyone, and for it to be anything more than a suggestion, it has to be enforced. We on staff have been "called out" for "not enforcing" sig size rules on people whose sigs were one or two pixels too tall...so there IS a real issue with evenhanded enforcement.

Let's not have this thread over another time, shall we?

It was fine the last couple times we had sig rule discussion.

Accept that this isn't 'Nam, and move on.

Why doesn't your staff just tell those whiny ass cry babies who call you out for totally unimportant harmless stuff to go jump in the lake? Can't you see, they are just turning your own rules against you looking for some form of leverage. The rules are designed to prevent actual problems, not to punish people who are not causing problems and are not looking for problems. Rules for the sake of having rules are extremely annoying, especially since the replacement signature that one of you guys came up with is even longer! Like I said, just make a CSS adjustment, clip the overflow, and call it a day. This doesn't need to be a rule.

Honestly, I swear to you, I did not knowingly set out to create that signature to break any rules or make some sort of statement. I'm just bringing this up now while we are on the topic.

Yeah, I feel the same way about yours. It's just a rectangle with your name in it. Would it kill you to show a little creativity?
