how about whenever a topic gets moved to another forum, an accompanying link is left? it'd be easier than searching for it. :cD

The mod would have to get the last link in the list of the forum and then add 1 to the number it is.. too much work imo, plus the forums change so fast that it'll often be a wrong link.

There are a few ways to move the topic, and no hard and fast rules about how to do it:

Method 1:
1) copy link to target forum to clipboard
2) post in thread to be moved "Hey, I'm moving it here: (paste link)
3) move thread (leaving closed thread in source forum.)

Method 2:
1)post note in thread to be moved "Hey, I'm moving it here: (blank space)
2) move thread (leaving closed thread in source forum)
3) Open target forum, and find the new thread there. Copy link to clipboard.
4) go back to source forum, and view closed thread.
5) re-open closed thread.
6) edit note "Hey, I'm moving it here: (paste link)"
7) re-close thread.

So it's possible, but it's also more intensive.

That's what I know- I certainly understand where you're coming from, from the convenience of not having to find the thread when you click through.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.
