Good god. What happened?

There are so many OS X fora that it is conceivable that ANY TOPIC could be posted in one of the specific fora. Seriously -- I don't see a thread here (except the 10.2 rumors type threads) that couldn't also be classified as "Software" or "Support" or "UNIX," etc.

But that doesn't mean that they should all be classified as such!!!

Topics of general interest, regardless of where they specifically "belong" ought to be left in the GENERAL forum.

This includes threads like the OmniWeb 4.1 thread, and the Sputnix thread -- these are good announcements of upcoming things that are GENERALLY INTERESTING/IMPORTANT.

Threads like Office X messing around on your network -- of general importance

Some threads don't belong here, but for a moderator, excercise soem moderation! Some do deserve to be here.

I would be more ready to contend that there should be NO general forum AT ALL than that we should just allow anything because one user thought it should be here.

I have a hard time believing that it's impossible to have a noteworthy thread in any forum besides this one. If there is such a problem, maybe it's because people have learned to look HERE, instead of in the appropriate forum, for threads regarding their interests.

If I want information on Virtual PC 5, why should my first act, since it's a popular piece of software, be to look in OS X General?

There was already a thread about this topic, so I'm moving this to Suggestions and comments...

Locking this, since the other thread on this topic is a lot more active.
