I recently bought an 800MHz tower and 17' LCD from the Apple store in Cincinnati, OH. At the time of purchase (i.e. giving them money) they were really great in helping me.

When I got back home in Louisville, KY two hours later I learned that the tower had a defective power supply and needed to be exchanged. I drove back to Cinci within two days and they gave me a new one. But my problems were not over yet.

The second tower had a bad processor and software install. Apple Care wanted me to have it serviced but theres no way in hell I'm getting a brand new $3,000 system repaired in the first few days out of the box.

I called the Apple store and asked the assistant manager if I could return the computer for a full refund and was told on the phone ok. Two hours later upon my arrival I was greeted with heavy resistance by the store manager who didn't want to do the return. He told me that it was against policy. He also said that Apple Care exists to take care of out-of-box problems because they don't guarantee their computers to work from the start! What does that mean? No wander they control less that 5% of the market!

Eventually he decided to do the return but the ass---- wanted to charge me $300 for my troubles (10% restocking fee). I fought and fought and finally got the monitor and speakers returned restock free but not the tower which cost me about $150. I currently have a complaint filled with corporate and their decision is pending.

Is there anyone out there who has had similar problems either with customer service issues or the new 800MHz machines?

Thanks.
