I just finished reading another poor MacNN review on a Lexmark printer. After listing just about everything wrong with the printer it is still given 4 of 5 stars.

Most companies get free products and the royal treatment from companies so they feel obligated to give sometimes crap hardware good reviews.

I wrote the author a letter as follows:

Mathew,

I don’t understand how after you reviewed the Lexmark printer which has defects, loud, “violent feeder”, large footprint, and poor drivers you could still give it 4 out of 5 stars? What would a printer have to do to get 3 stars? Print everything backwards?

This seems like another ones of those reviews where you seem to have some obligation to the company and despite all the flaws you still give it a high rating.

You don’t answer your own question of should one buy this printer over an Epson or HP?

Other important qualities of a printer that just about everyone wants to know is:

Ink usage and Economy
Ink cost
Print Quality and speed on text and picture
Ink availability

Perhaps you can consider these thing for your next review.

While I am almost 17 myself, I must agree with you. I find it crazy how 14 - 16 year olds are reviewing the products! (Sean Yepez is either 14 or 15)

MacNN Reviews never review anything I'm interested in anymore. And the reviews they have, I agree with you, suck.
