Hi guys,
Can't the MacNN forum be like a place where everyone can go. I see places saying (mainly) ' Moderators ' only.
Only if it is completely NECESSARY keep some rooms private. But MacNN should let people into private rooms.

It is completely necessary. There is ONE forum out of over two dozen public ones that's moderators only. Is it really necessary to concentrate on just that one?

Why should we let people into private rooms that discuss private things about the forum's operation, again?

and the reason we show it is to create the illusion that there is a moderating staff at work and some organization behind the operation of the forums. without that ineffable "private" forum in the list, the laymen might think there was no team of dedicated minor deities working day and night to realize an ineffable plan. and then they might think there was no ineffable plan guiding the forums on their rough journey through time. and then they would have lost faith. so then they might lose hope. and then they might go elsewhere for salvation. and then we might lose hits. and then we'd lose self esteem. and that would be dreadful.
