Case in point: http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ulti...5&t=003692
TnProud2b has alterred this thread title twice since March 14th, so that now none of the responses lend any relevance to the original thread title. I think this thread should be locked or deleted.
Furthermore..........
It should go without saying that if a person begins a thread that warrants many responses relating to that topic there should be a limitation on how long a user can edit the topic title and first post of his/her thread.
When a member changes or alters the thread title and subject after so many responses he or she is essentially admitting that the thread is a waste of space. It should then be locked or removed from the forum altogether.
Therefor I vote for a 30 minute time limit that a user can edit his or her posts after they cannot be edited any further. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes for someone to correct thier syntax or spelling errors or to gather links.
I'm sure there's plenty of members that find this "post-facto" topic changing as annoying (if not moreso) as I do.
Mike

wow. You really should get out more.
Sorry my shenanigans caused so much disruption in your life.
We must legislate TNproud2b into non-existence before any more innocent people get hurt.

TNproud2b is the antichrist and must be stopped? Just flip the last digit of his post count upside down and the post count reads "666"!
Sacrilege!

I agree that it can get confusing, but there's no easy way to implement this. Sorry.

Then this is a serious limitation of UBB.
The ability of users to change posts can completely invalidate any replies to it. Because of UBB's munging of formatted text, it's essential that users can change posts, but there should be limits.
IMHO, users shouldn't be able to edit a post after there's been any replies to it or, more precisely, after there's been any more posts in the thread.
