Hey gang
Is it just me or is anyone else having problems with the forums over the last couple of days?

It all started with pages not loading fully, missing small graphical elements like the curved ends to the top navigation bar (rightcurve.gif and leftcurve.gif) and the like.

Then I've been getting a lot of pages saying 'failed to load' when navigating the forums. Sometimes it'll take me two or three attempts to load a page.

I've just posted in the iBook forum in the 'iBook abuse stories' thread and it took me three attempts to post my reply as I kept getting a server error page (something about DNS gateway error?). I was dreading it coming up with a multiple post but fortunately it didn't.

Is it just me or my ISP? Anyone else notice anything odd?

Yup, i have to cancel the loading after a while because its not finishing. Its the graphics i think, but there are a while bunch of things going wrong. Like the threads arent updating on the main page. The responses appear in the actual thread but from the main page you cant tell there was a response.

So whats up Admin?

Hey, I noticed that too now I think of it. Again when I posted in the iBook abuse stories thread and came back to the main page, my posting didn't show up as the most recent. Even though it was. I forced a reload and it didn't make any difference. BTW, I've tried this with my ISP's webcache on and off and it doesn't appear to make any difference.

Edited to add: things seem much much better today, so fingers crossed it was a temporary glitch with something somewhere

It wouldn't load for a good part of the afternoon today, and when I try to post I get the flood control message even though it's been over an hour since the last post. Lots of new members/posts overloading the server maybe? Hope this goes through...

There's also a problem with Mozilla; every time you submit a form, it tries to reload twice (thus submitting the form three times). Other boards aren't showing this problem, so I'm inclined to think the problem is with the forums, not Mozilla.

The server was down while the hosting guy was moving it from one NOC to another (I found it odd, but he said this new one has less random access outages, which is always a good thing...).

The server is going to be moved to our primary ISP in Boston soon, at which point the frequency of these glitches should decrease significantly. (The forums server is currently hosted at a second, temporary ISP.)

Either way, things seem to have been fine for the last day or two, and hopefully will stay that way until we get the server shipped.

Sorry about the inconvenience; it's an isolated incident.

I'm getting hung up loading kermit.macnn.com today, and it takes over a minute to load each page. Just me?

Edit: It stopped as soon as I posted this, nevermind.
