I've brought up the issue in the past about having MacNN get-togethers. Unfortunately as we all know, I think it will be very difficult to have one national conference in the US or in other nations for that matter.
So my suggestion is that we should add a separate category in the MacNN forums called MacNN Regional. Within this link we can have links where users can get in touch with fellow MacNN members in their area. I guess here would be an example for something in the US:
>>MacNN Regional
----------> MacNN Northeast
----------> MacNN South
----------> MacNN Mid-west
----------> MacNN West Coast
Or what could possibly be done instead would be to just offer each state in the union with their own thread. That should be at the discretion of the Mods. I think this is a great idea and should be highly implemented to continue the MacNN goodness. Thoughts?

Confusing. Are there really enough people here to warrant that? (I'm not just saying that cause I'd never have anyone to talk to there - apart from dirty filthy scumsucking aussie kangarooters )

I think that's a little too confusing, and people aren't going to be meeting up so often in so many places that that's practical ... however, if you do want to plan a get-together in your state, let one of us know, and we'd be happy to post an announcement on the main forum page that MacNN readers from ________ are planning a get-together and to look [link]here[/link] for more details. The Lounge would be fine for posting these kinds of threads, and that's where they've always been before.

I guess my suggestion was ultimately aimed for one purpose in mind, to form sub-communities within the MacNN community according to locale, which most people I wouldn't think have a problem with.
Frankly, I don't see how this is really confusing. It's just like any other website like Yahoo, where if willing, one can get more regionalized resources and the what not.
