Why does the MacNN site carry an ad at the top and bottom of several pages for InternetBoost, which, when I clicked on it, revealed itself to require Windows 95 or 98 as the only operating systems.

Actually, I could use such a product, but I don't trust a Windows ad on a Mac site.

Some of MacNN's ads are sold in bulk to a third-party who then, in turn resells the ads to companies. Sometimes these are Windows-based companies selling ads over the entire technology network of which MacNN is a single site. This results in some Windows-only companies' ads showing up on MacNN. We apologize for the disparity and hope that it issome a rare occurrence. The fact is that about 5-7% of the users that hit MacNN do so from a Windows PC (work).

Hope this helps explain the occurence.

regards,
monish

Besides, who pays any attention to the ads?

I try to make it so that I click on an ad once in a while when I'm at
a website that I really like. I think everyone should, especially if you
want to see that website around in the future and more good come out of that website.
I started doing this when I saw a statistic somwheres that said less than half a percent(I think) of surfers click on ad's and figuring that
websites only get about 5 to 15 cents? per click....well do the math.

Just as in Television networks and Radio stations....they depend on income from advertisers to maintain.

Click on an ad once in a while..... Your favorite website will appreciate it and in the long run so will you.
