The latest version of UBB (which we will be getting) does have a spell check feature, but it crashes IE 5, which means we'll probably disable it when we get it.

I am usually in OS X (to let SETI crunch efficiently in the background) and OS X has a built in spell-check service. If I use OmniWeb, I get continuous spell-checking while making a post. Questionable words turn red when your cursor leaves them. Nice. Doesn't work in iCab for X unfortunately.

Well I'll be! No sooner said than done! It highlights the misspelled word.

Please let us know if the spellchecker module is working ok. If it is not working for you, please specify your operating system and browser.

It worked with this post...
OS 9.0.4

And why are the text fields small again?

Testing done in OS X Public Beta
The spell check failed in iCab for OS X (Pre 2.2). It created a pop-off window titled "Spellchecker.net", but the window stayed a uniform grey. I presently closed it.
Then I tried it in OmniWeb 4.0 b7. Pop-off window, this time with no title. Completely blank, but with a white background.
Next, IE for OS X Beta. This time it worked.
My spelling is reasonable and I have a pocket dictionary in the drawer next to me. I consult it frequently to be sure of various words. Or trust the OS X spellcheck when using OmniWeb like I am now.
Personally, I would rather have the wider posting/editing windows than another spellcheck. Others may feel differently. And I agree that many others would benefit from a spellcheck function.
ps: A working spellcheck function is no excuse to use MS products. This here is Mac Land.

Works great in Netscape 4.7 on OS 8.6!
Thanks for adding this feature! The only thing worse than my typing is my spelling - I really appreciate it.

We'll be making the window larger later today... the UBB upgrade wrote over our modified settings.

The spell checker works perfectly on my Dell winNT at work. The mispelled word is underlined, and followed by a selection of possible corrections, plus the 'replace', 'cancel' etc. tools.
At home however, a misspelled word is highlighted, but the lower part of the window with the suggested replacement fields and tools do not appear at all. That would be on my iMac DV/SE OS8.6 IE 4.5.
Curious.
