Would anyone else be interested in a forum for Macs in education? I would definitely like to see one (and woudln't mind moderating it) if MacNN started one.

I think that'd be a little redundant... anything you could talk about there could be discussed in news/advoc or even better, the Lounge.

I would beg to differ, on that... Being from education, there are many things that could be discussed in an education specific forum.. that would be better suited there and not in any of the many other forums...
1) How to integrate technology into the curriculum
2) How to form educational partnerships with vendors
3) Which software is specific to specific curricular areas, ie specific science or math areas
4) Discussion on certain education specific probes, ie temperature probes, motion sensors
5) How to write successful technology plans
6) An area for discussion on specific ways to advocate for Macs in education...
7) what are successful ways districts are providing professional development for their teachers...
And the list could go on... So, I repectfully disagree with your opinion that it would be redundant... that could really be said about most anything... Since education used to be one of Apple's mainstays (and in many ways still is), this should be a very important area of focus...

Ok, you've won me over there (not that that means anything, its Misha you've gotta convince).
Just one thing though, you've gotta wonder how many people it would use it? Its popularity?
But anyway. Good idea

Also, if educators had a specific forum here it might draw a lot more of them into MacNN and give them an additional boost in being more effective with students... the future generations of Mac-buyers.
If it really started hopping you might find MacNN servers getting overloaded. I hope that's a problem you'd like to cope with

Thanks Cipher... I would be interested to know how many people would use the board... I know that in the Boston Public Schools, there are many teachers who are desperately looking for a place like this, if even jsut to vent... I have pointed many to these boards for tech support, but I think that teacher sin general would also like a place to learn about lesson plans, ways to advocate, network with other teachers... I guess we'll see....
thanks

Titania,
I think you have stated wxxactly why I would be interested in such a forum... as a Mac Advocate, I would be for anything that helps educate more users, improves teaching and learning, and arms teachers with more curriculum for the classroom. I think that educators in general don't have all the answers, but as a collective they are a very powerful tool to help advance students performance...
thanks
dave
