I'm having a problem posting anything over 8 or 10 lines to any MacNN forum lately. Anything longer causes the browser to 'hang' for a minute or more, until it times out with this message:

The attempt to load 'http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/postings.cgi' failed.

I'm using ie 4.5 in my imac dv/se with os 8.6. on a DSL connection.
Otherwise, no problems.

My latest problem occurred when I was trying to submit a post of about 50 lines. It won't submit until I've whittled it down to 8 lines. Is this a
subtle way of limiting any 'long winded' posts? Attempts to edit the post yields the same result.

Has anyone else experienced this?

WDL, I cannot thank you enough for your kind help. Thanks to your elaborate and detailed post, all my problems have been solved. Even my nail fungus has cleared up!

Seriously, any suggestions at all? It's quite an annoying problem.

Yes - I have the problem (on all forums).

No - I don't know what the answer is - but since I don't see a lot of postings about this, have to conclude it lies within my configuration.

Using Netscape v.4.6.1 - don't want to go higher since it does everything I want (usually) and my ISP warned me they were receiving many tech calls for assistance with 4.7.X.

If I figure out a solution, I'll post it - trust you will do the same.
