I've replied to two messages in the past couple of days, and it "automatically takes me back to" the topic page, but my reply isn't there! Now I've lost two carefully-worded and well-written replies that might have won me awards! Have I been banned or something?
ps. however, i can create new topics... as evidenced. but still.

I've noticed this also. If you go to another website then return to the thread to which you have posted, the message is there. It bugs me, too.

Yes, I believe a 'refresh' is in order. Give it a try and see if the problem exists....

I noticed that sometimes, it takes upto a minute 'til you post the msg, does the msg actually gets posted...kinda annoying, but just have good faith that your post isn't lost into the vast internet created by Al Gore...

Yeah, why does that happen? Once, that caused me to double post, thinking that the first post didn't go through or something.

Its your proxy server. In Netscape, do a Super Reload, requesting fresh data from the host.
To do that, press Apple-Option and click to bring up the menu like normal.
Then go to super reload.
Don't do it all the time though, as it puts a strain on the servers if everyone is doing that, and slows everything down.
I don't know how to do that in IE, or if it can be done.
Chalk one up for Netscape.

Thanks. This might sound a little stupid, but what is a proxy server?

Proxy servers are servers your computer goes through when connecting to the Internet...
Some people may go through them, some may not, it depends on your ISP.
When you go to a site, or download a file, it is stored on the proxy server for a certain amount of time, that way if someone else requests that data, or if you request it again, the proxy server can say "right, i've already got this, no need to go and get it off the server holding it, slowing everything down". So it makes for seemingly faster connections. Unfortunately, if content is updated, you won't always get it straight away.
A super reload will request the proxy server to go and get that data again (I think), so you get the updated content.
I think thats a reasonably accurate description...
