This is just a thought, but it can be really annoying when someone posts a problem and doesn't even give system specs...
I dunno whether this can be done, but how about when people sign up, they enter their system specs into a few seperate fields (eg. proc, ram, HD, OS etc.), and then that is put into their signature...
Then, as another idea suggests, have the signature shown on each post by default, and then the system specs are right there!
I have noticed a few people put their specs in their signature, and to them, good idea.
I refrain from doing that as I never remember to hit the signature checkbox (if it was by default set to show, then that wouldn't be a problem), and anyway, whenever I have a prob I post my specs anyway...
A large portion of the replies I have seen lately (including mine) have been half-baked, very general suggestions (due to not having enough info to work with), followed by "what are your system stats? I can't help if I don't know what OS vers you have!" and so on...
Anyway, its just a thought... comments? criticisms? oversights?

EDIT: Of course, people could edit their specs via their profiles, and if this is implemented through the signature feature of the UBB systems, then they can delete the specs and have a normal signature, or choose not to show one at all...
This would mainly be for newbies who don't know better...
And of course, this all depends on whether it can actually be done at all...

Yeah, thats an ok idea. The problem for some is that they use more than one mac. I mean for example, in a day I would predominantly use my P'Book, but also use a 7300, iMacs or G4's at school and iMacs at work. I suppose you could choose the primary mac and use the specs of that.

Good idea!

How about this. Next to the time you posted are icons for your info and other stuff. How about another icon for your machine(s). That would solve a lot a problems.

Of course this info is your choice to post.

I like it. Maybe to the left, instead of "Registered" it could show "System."
