OSX beta hasn't even shipped in any great volume and already the OSX forum contains a slew of unix specific questions.
So what does everyone think of a forum where members can ask questions relating strictly to the Darwin underpinnings, such as, the command line, shell scripting, config files, the POSIX file structure, etc, but not Aqua, quick time, classic, cocoa, troubleshooting, or other problems relating to the OS as a whole.

that should be addressed in the MacOS X forum, after all those things are part of OS X, no?

Well, yes AND no...I think Apple is making a deliberate effort to hide the unix (Darwin) part of the OS from the avarage user. I'm sure thre's a great number of us who want to delve into that part of the OS, but have various degrees of unix experience and it might be nice to have a place to learn and discuss some of the more esoteric aspects of the OS.
I'm just thinking... that when the beta becomes more readily available, or even the final version, it may overwhelm the OSX forum. It may also make it easier to track specific issues which have nothing to do with installations, the mail app, connecting to your ISP, the GUI stuff like Aqua, the finder, the dock...etc...
...just a thought.

I'll second that suggestion...
Although, the heat in the OSX forum will cool down soon... and then heat right up at the release of 1.0...

people have a hard enough time posting in the right forum as it is... of course, i DO hope i am wrong for everyone's sake

How hard can it be?
General discussion: For queries, not problems...
Support: Got problems? Well, if they're OS X related, post 'em there...
Developer: Trying to develop for OS X? Haven't got a clue?
Server: For MacOS X Server I presume.
But then again, Wlonh's got a point... there are people that don't understand what the "Peripherals" forum is for...
EDIT: Sorry, didn't even look at the descriptions under the forum links... I was using the popup menu to see what the 4 topics were...
