I know this would interfere with AI, but their "Future Hardware" is used (mostly) for speculation and arguing. I was thinking of a place where we could post ideas/designs and have constructive criticism. I tried on AI, but noone cared.

Alright, I held off, but I have to say it... is that not what AI is for?
I mean really... by all means discontinue AI, and do the following:

Divide MacNN Forums into two distinct sections - "discussion" and "troubleshooting". In each section there would be PowerBook, PowerMac, MacOS sections and stuff.

It would be more for people to go through, but its just an alternate suggestion

I just came here to post the same thing!

Why here? Because a lot of people at AI are rude (Applenut) and there are trolls (EmAn and JYD) and people just tend not to care or just blast you. People are more civilized here which is why I post here, though I do read AI a lot.

Also, AI is down all the time, just like they are now. If I recall the day before MWSF they were down due to an overload on the server. I need my future hardware/speculation fix!! Especially the day of a SteveNote!!!!

Having a Future Hardware forum would be excellent, although the side effects might include Apple's legal eagles coming knocking...

EmAn is a troll?!?

Jesus man, you've obviously not spent much time at AI. He's anything but.

Have a look around, there are jerks in both forums...

I'll change my vote a little.

Just as AppleInsider's forums aren't exclusively rumor-oriented (OS X Discussion, for example), I think one forum that covers all rumor-mongering in general wouldn't be a bad addition to the forum.

But I don't really care either way.
I rarely rumor monger any more. It's boring after a while...

P L E A S E !!! Give us some kind of Future Hardware or Rumour forum.. Personally, I DETEST all the little Britney/iMac fans forever blabbing on about what they are certain is going to appear on the next iMac or iBook. If the moderators think this is stuff for the Lounge, Then by all means move all rumour posts there. Doesn't matter to me. I'm just sick of these posts appearing with sickening regularity in the main forums. It really is beginning to bring the tone of the place down. For example... In the iBook forum, people are already speculating what the next iBooks are going to be like when they are supposedly released in July. I mean, HELLO! Apple only just announced a new one, and most people that ordered one have still not got them yet. But still this is not enough, so people must make up rumours or childish wish lists for the "iBook III" or whatever they have decided it's going to be called. And pretty much the same thing is going on in the iMac forum now too.. "There will be a flat panel LCD Quad G4 iMac for $999, Here is the Proof!" Yawn.....

Any genuine Mac fan that knows his/her onions knows full well that no body really knows what Apple is going to do untill the actual day that Apple releases the stuff. Thats pretty much the way it always has been, and it's probably the way it always will be. Meaning that all these rumours that people insist on posting, are for the most part, speculative crap. If people could be sensible and keep all their rumour posts to one thread per forum, it would probably be bearable.. But this doesn't happen.

So.. Why not put all this crap in it's own forum? (Or the Lounge) So the people that don't want to read it or see even see it.. Don't have to.. It makes perfect sense to me, As i'm sure it does to many other users of these forums.

Well they used to have AI, but they don't give a damn about it. So why shouldn't people post about what they want to discuss with regards to (even admittedly juvenile) speculation about different mac/apple products?

Is the lounge supposed to catch all the refuse? Then sorry mods, but I really ought to open lots of threads covering the different aspects of AI being down (each subtly different, mind).

Make an AI forum here, give it a future hardware and software section, and style the lounge after AppleOutsider.

Thanks again for not giving a good God Damn.
