I can't even access OS X General Discussion....just sits there, loading and loading...

What's up? I hope all of these issues are resolved soon, 'cause it is largely a pain in the ass just to read topics and reply...

I think the server must be running off my old 486sx. Cause I'm having 80's flashbacks every time I click MacNN on my toolbar.

I actually waited until the OS X-General Discussion finished loading (oh, about 5 minutes) and all it had was the banner at the top (time-out maybe). The slowness seems to be directly related to the size of the forum.

At peak times UBB is reaching its max. of serving about 7,000 requests per minute. Those are the requests that are going through; thousands more are not. We have ordered new hardware to alleviate this problem and expect it to be installed and configured by the end of the week... please bear with us...

Don't worry, Misha. You can't please all of the people all of the time
and some of us aren't happy unless we're complaining.

Slow is much better than Down.

P.S. It would be nice, though,
if you mentioned that you moved
a thread when you close it...

I am just echoing the sentiment of others. Over the course of the past week things have slowed to a crawl and I routinely time-out on my DSL connection. It takes anywhere from 45-seconds to a couple of minutes to get the forums to load. I understand the increased traffic causing slow-downs but I've never had things crawl quite like this.

Has macnn.com really started getting that much more traffic over the course of the last year or what? Any word on the new hardware?
