I saw a note in Lounge and one in the iBook forum about merging some of the fora.

How come? We just got he additional Graphics forum and I have to say that I get better, quicker, info here than from Adobe, Macromedia or Apple's boards. MacNN is always my first stop for help on stuff.

I don't see the large number of forums as a bad thing. I understand if it gets unwieldy on the administration end and if that's the case I can deal with it.

But if you are just looking to shutter some forums for the sake of doing so, I vote to leave them open.

There's a broad range of topics that interest the Mac enthusiasts out there. Why not let us discus them all?

PS - Congrats to the new Admins and my thanks to Monish. The place feels more like home every day.

We're not considering touching the graphics fora. Maybe renaming Graphics/Illustration to encompass design issues as well, but that's minor. No changes there.

More specifically, we were thinking of restructuring the developer forums and discontinuing the Developer forum and combining its topics with other fora. Developer gets little traffic, and we're in sore need of a OS X UNIX forum as well as a Web Development one. This is the plan that most people in the OS X Dev forum have okay-ed.

It's not forums on the whole, just a few. So far it seems as if we'll end up with one more forum than before, not less, so we're not really shrinking.
