Dear Jack Daddy,
In reference to http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Foru...ML/002055.html et al:
Please stop referring to the PowerBook G4 as the "tit book." MacNN is neither a pornography nor an ornithology forum. I have asked you before and will ask again that you please use other abbreviations, such as TiBook or PBG4.
Thanks!
tooki
Moderator, PowerBook forum on MacNN
That was the email "Tooki" sent to me on 3-21-01. I think it's ridulous and that the only person who seems to be offended by it is him. Nobody else has really said anything about it to me except him.
Originally, when the Titanium powerbook came out i wanted to be the first to give it a nickname...i.e. pismo, lombard, wallstreet and etc. So i just stated a post and argued that T!t book would be a fun name for it. I intended it to be pronounced "Tite" like, "Titanium". i thougth it sounded more hi-tech than TiBook because Tibook would be pronounced T-Book.
Anyway, one guy makes a remark and so does Tooki. I can see that nobody cares and i drop it. I don't ask anybody to join me in my never-dying quest to convince people to call it the t1t book. No! i call it that for my own purposes and i dont make any deal out of it at all. If you go to the link, you'll see that i'm just calling it by it's name and nothing else. I mean they are allowed to say "***** " in the sexual sense on the radio(everyday on Howard stern) and even on tv now too.
So, do you guys think i'm wrong for typing a i in between my two Ts? I mean little kids dont surf Macnn for porno. Or do you think tooki is right in trying to ban the word?

Eh Tooki is a Moderator for a reason, if he asked nicely to stop just do it, don't be an ass or anything.

Dude,
You seem to be under the impression that anyone cares.
We don't.
TitBook is a stupid name for it.
The Mod Asked to to have the smallest amount of taste. Obviously that is too much for you.
Tell ya what, why don't you take your Complaint to the "Jerry Springer Show". I'm sure that you will find a crowd there that will be happy to listen to a cross-dressing homosexual that sleeps with his brother such as yourself.
Really, if this is your biggest concern, you need to stand up, step away from the computer, put on your panties, and go find a life!

People buying the Ti fall into three catagories:
1.Geek:Wonders iof the Titaniumis a close packed crystalline structure.
2.Ordinary Mac User:Thinks of selling car to buy one.
3.Consumer:Thinks of it as being the only portable with a "tit" in the name!

I roll my eyes everytime I see it referred to as [what jack daddy refers to it as]. It's just plain dumb.
But, I mean, if you want to come off as dumb, go right ahead.

Ah, I'll defend Mr. Daddy's ( ) right to call the Titanium Powerbook G4 a titbook. Personally, I think it's a dumb name. I like calling it a TiBook, which I pronounce TIE-book, not TEE-book. But Jack Daddy's right: he's not forcing anyone else to use the term, and it ain't even offensive. What gets me is that you get an e-mail if you say tit (huh-huh, he said 'tit...'), but back-and-forth flaming from Ca$h and just about everyone else is OK. Ca$h calls people, and I'm quoting here, cockface, motherf*cker, and all that other fun stuff. Titbook really pales in comparison.
And anyway, if he wants to use a dumb (yet nonoffensive) name for the TiBook, let him. What's it to you?

I also see Jack Daddy's pun as being a harmless one.
The thing that most bothers me is that in my opinion Jack Daddy has betrayed someone's trust by putting a private email message on public display.

What does it matter?
Obviously, jack daddy, you are using "Tit Book" to draw attention, like this.
As saying "Ti Book" gets across the same point with no worries... Tit Book just makes you look immature.
Who cares, as long as you get your point across, right?
Its very lame dude.
Do yourself a favour and call it what everyone else does.
