Scott_H suggested I posted this e-mail I sent him here for the benefit of the administrators.

I look forward to anyone's views on the subject...

Is there no better way to move messages between forums than the one currently implemented on MacNN?

It is extremely annoying when you end up reading the 'wrong' version of a thread and find that discussion has been stopped by a moderator moving the thread to another forum.

Could you not have a sytem similar to that operated by BBC News Online <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news> where news stories can appear in the listings for more than one section, but each story is only actually stored on the server once and has only one 'home' section (and it is this that appears at the top of the page)? In other words, in the case of MacNN forums, each thread could appear in the listings for more than one board, but each thread would only actually be stored on the server once and would have only one 'home' board? That way, it wouldn't matter where you entered a thread from, you'd still get the full, up-to-date contents of that thread.

Is this doable? :-)

Cheers,

Kenneth

PS Would it be possible to setup the search function so that you can search all Mac OS X-related forums but nothing else? Sometimes you have to guess which board a particular topic would be discussed on (if, indeed, it is only one)?
