Sorry I wasn't being constructive. When you asked for advice I thought that since I live and breath automobiles and know more about them than most people, my opinions would matter. Next time I will try not to get so offended when you say that any car with 100k is a piece of shit, because you are probably just used to American products, so it's not your fault you don't know any better. Again, sorry. Bro.

Rob, everybody here is pretty much anonymous and their skills and knowledge level is unknown, but you can earn respect over time. Roasting people who are wrong doesn't help earn that respect, because people naturally get defensive and don't want to assign you the MacNN cred you may deserve out of pure spite.

Unfortunately, people have dumb opinions and beliefs about everything, there is a lot of general ignorance out there. I know that it can be frustrating arguing with people that know less than you, I've been in that situation here too, but sadly there really isn't much you can do about it. Let people be wrong, it is their problem for being ignorant, and not something to take personally. Some people will choose to remain ignorant or wrong no matter who is on the other side of the debate, regardless of their credentials (even if they are well known).

My advice is to back off and not get worked up over it, cause it will drive you crazy, and it is always a losing battle.

First he respects the ban, then he apologizes

That's not really an apology.

Indeed it isn't.

But it's a nice display of how justified past moderation has been with respect to the OP.

Hey, I truly do respect your opinion and experience. I just chose to go in a different direction. I think using the "piece of sh*t" reference was a mistake on my part. I shouldn't have contributed and let things escalate the way they did. Sorry. Can we PLEASE move on?

You guys gotta take it a bit easier on Rob.

He is trying to change, and displaying previously unheard of restraint.

When he posts a backhanded "apology" meant as a slap in the face?

Hey, I give him the benefit of the doubt. Of course that wasn't a picture perfect apology.
But I didn't conclude that it was mean-spirited.

It basically amounted to "I'm sorry that you're an idiot." I'm still waiting for the apology for digging up his MySpace page and ridiculing him for that.

I certainly caught the sarcasm in the apology. And the whole thing with stalking out my MySpace page...that was a little weird to me. I haven't updated that thing in 2-3 years other than the profile picture. Nothing on there was ever intended to be taken real seriously and it wasn't constructed to really represent me. Its just something I threw up for fun back in the day and I still log in to get updates on bands I like.

Blah, I've never been involved in something so petty and childish before.

I said I was sorry because I got offended over a comment that you probably didn't intend to piss me off with. I'm sure you actually think cars with over 100k are pieces of shit, and anything that isn't new "sucks", but that's most likely because you're used to American cars that fall apart at 80k miles. You current drive a Jeep, and you said you're already noticing issues with it, and it has 60k, right? So it's no surprise that you would assume that anything with over 100k, or older than 3 years, is a piece of shit.

Because I thought you were insulting me, and not just believing what you believed based on your experiences, I took that way personally, and tried to hurt you back. I'm sorry.

However, as for you not ever being involved in something so petty and childish, you DID call my cars pieces of "shit" and "embarrassing". ??? I have never met anybody that was overly impressed with someone's civic or jeep interior. And as for embarrassing, I'm not sure why a super rare turbo AWD german luxury wagon is embarrassing, nor a sports coupe that handled better than anything ever made through 1989. Not really sure how an econobox or a poser SUV is better than either of those.... frankly, I consider both of those much more embarrassing.

But again... you think cars are crap at 100k, because of your experiences. You do not have my experience, or my knowledge, so I understand that your viewpoints are different. I should not get mad at you for having ignorant viewpoints, and instead try to educate you, instead of getting pissed off and attacking you.
