On another Mac forum that also runs vBull, the author of a thread gets a label under his or her name (on each post) with the words "Thread Starter." I think it's a nice touch as a rather unobtrusive reminder of the person who started the thread.

Anyone else like this feature?

It might be possible to do something like that.

How about "Troublemaker" instead of "Thread Starter"?

Is the purple dot a test, or is that going to be the label?

I didn't want to clutter up the profile with a full text line, hence the dot with alt text. It's there if you look for it, and fairly discreet if you don't.

Suggestions welcome.

Can we change the dot to a sign that says "Blame Me" ?

Would it be possible for the dot to have a black ring around it? (Is the image able to be changed to whatever the code writer chooses?)

I like the dot. Simple, yet easy to figure out what it signifies.

The dot can be any image. Practical concerns constrain it to a 9x9 image. If people change the display style size, 9x9 is the most compatible across all 3 sizes.

I suppose we could use a larger image size and constrain the display size. But some browsers may not honor that, and it might freak out the page render. Safer to use 9x9 to begin with.

Outline added.

Thank you for the outline. It looks cleaner, and not as fuzzy to me now

Nice to see others like the feature. But I don't understand what you guys are referring to about it being added. I don't see anything on my end.

Edit: Oh snap! Thank you, reader50!

Since we're all mac users here, I feel justified in pointing out the thread author dot appears somewhat shiny, which is inconsistent with the rest of NN UI, from the stars to the header. I'd also suggest choosing a color that falls in line with the theme (yellow or graphite seeming the most obvious choices).

Dakar, it's your glossy display. It looks dull on my matte display. The dot is a hue adjustment of the yellow new-posts flag, which is a shrunk version of the bigger new-post-in-forum flag. No changes were made to shininess.

I've had a bit of code fun with the dot, so stay alert.

Oh, you mean like the rotation of the semi flatter side of the dot?

Well, it can't be the display, as the the rest of the UI doesn't look shiny, so it must be the color and the amount of contrast its darkness is causing. Possibly the size as well.
