I disagree with "n-i-g-g-e-r" being on the list.

99% of the time the term is being used for legitimate discussion. I've only seen it used in a different context once, and that was publically reported by a passel of users, myself included.

I also think it implies euphemisms are the proper way to discuss highly charged issues of race, which they're not.

I see no value in changing the censor list here. Besides, getting around it by using n-word or n!gger or something else is easy enough if you really need to use the word.

What value do you see in it being censored?

I should also add "N-word" really bothers me. People use it to cop out of having to use the actual word.

I don't like a system which encourages its use.

LOL, reminds me of how people got insta-banned at some boards because they used the word "niggardly".

Needless to say, there are better ways to show that you are uneducated than accusing someone using that word of racism.

It is a pain but nothing that can't be gotten around. Personally I think there should be no censors at all because its just as easy to bypass for the F word, N word, A word and so on. It can be a pit of a problem in debate and discussion when used correctly. I think the other day I by passed it for the N word.

At the end of the day those that want to call people @ssholes and other words are going to by pass the filter, and it will be up to people to report it or for it to be seen by a mod to be dealt with otherwise will just sit there hidden away. I don't see a point in removing one word unless we remove them all and just turn the filter off. Hey might even speed the site up
