My Barbies are way to classy to wear denim, Levi or other. They're kind of offended by the idea, actually.

I know I've asked before, but do y'all at least get paid for these popups?

Not me. Maybe the dough is all going to Glenn.

If I understand how it works, we should be. They must be served up as part of the normal rotation. The problem being pop-ups get slipped in occasionally when we've requested a no-popup selection.

Do they ever explain how this happens? Do they apologize?

This seems to fall into the "you had one job" category.

I wouldn't know. Monish and perhaps a few others on the business side handle all the ad stuff. We just hang out here too much.

My understanding is that a site's owner sells time in specific-sized ad spaces through an advertising aggregator. The aggregator resells that time through other web advertising businesses. This can go on down through several levels. When we report an ad up to Monish, it can take quite a bit of detective work to figure out who had that space at that time. Keeping these "wrong type" ads or "don't fit the space" ads out is a matter of ensuring every level down the ad sales chain knows the rules for that space, which is a major problem pretty much everywhere.

Popups are back.

Two weeks to get them stopped. Only gone for two days.

I know there are issues getting this fixed and all, but there needs to be a new system generated. The current system simply does not work.

What can I do to help?

Okay... I feel I've been extremely patient.

Popups are still here.

Sex slave ads are still here.

A very generous offer to personally assist has not been responded to.

I understand things take time. That's not the issue. The issue is absolute and total silence for weeks and weeks.

The local admins presumably read this thread - I certainly do. The problem is that ads are out of our reach. Someone from the business side handles that.

If you capture some ad code, we can forward it. I'm thinking someone who has ad access had been watching this thread, but stopped before your later postings. Perhaps they thought the problem was solved.

Glenn, with all due respect - the people from the "business side" don't give a shit. They just want the ad dollars.

The mobile angle makes it more difficult. I was only able to get that one by setting desktop Safari to the mobile client in the Develop menu.

Targeted ads have come a long way - they may know something we don't. I have not seen any of them, but then no one knows about my special basement room.

About the PSA, I can understand how anti-smoking ads can feel like an attack. We'll try to be more inclusive in the future. I just never knew you were a heavy smoker.

They've gotten a little "classier" since their last run. They appear more like regular dating sites, but they're the same sex slave people as last time.

Hawaii vacations and Red Cross banners here. A few others have come up, but not those. No dating banners at all.

Which is why it makes no sense to me. How do you get "Asian sex slave" from my browser history of tall women with big boobs porn?

Where's my free introduction to Amazons, goddamit?

I actually am, and as such, know enough to support the idea of an anti-smoking PSA, I just want them in the banners rather than as a popup.
