Hi
This is my first post in this forum
For a PC I have found that Winamp is my favorite mp3 player because it uses little resource from my system and you can make it hide just like a line sitting in your Desktop. I tried Winamp for my G4 at work but doesn't work the same since I couldn't find all the menu preference and I couldn't find how to make it my default player for CD's and any type of sound I play on my Mac.
Can some one please tell me what is the music player equivalent of Winamp for PC on the Mac?
Thanks
Alex

The more I look at one of the latest Paleontologists discoveries (ardipithecus ramidus kadabba) securing our position as nothing more than one more element in the unquestionable process of evolution, and the more I look at Scientifics research about the role we play as a insignificant creature living in a small rock called Earth that is part of a vast universe composed by billions of billions of moving rocks (meteorites, asteroids, stars, etc) that could end our existence on impact at any given moment, The more I convince my self that the idea of a god (No matter how you call it) is just a product of our imagination and the need of our ancestor to explain their surroundings.

I would look no further than iTunes in both 9.x and OS X...
Yes it has faults, inasmuch that it can under certain circumstances be a processor hog...but for all the features it offers, ease of use, and stabiity, it has to be very, very high in the list...
If you want a really cut down Mp3 player that uses miniscule or no resources, and don't mind dipping in to classic (assuming you're on OS X)...then GreyAmp is awesome. Free, No frills, no nonsense, it just works... Its getting hard to find, but I'm sure version tracker would have a copy...
Peace,
Marc

Well iTunes would be a good bet.
You can get remotes for it that are really small, plus it can be contolled by the dock icon. iTunes 3 also takes quite a bit less CPU power than it used to.
MacAST light is good, but it costs money I believe.
I pretty much use iTunes in MacOS X or if I am in OS 9 I use my old copy of SoundJam MP (best MP3 player ever).
Audion 3 is also a good choice for 9 or X. It has several small skins you can use for it. It has many great features, but it also costs money.
For free...iTunes cant be beat...by anything.

I would love to have an alternative to WinAmp when I'm working on my pc at work! iTunes for the PC would make my life a little better while I'm stuck within these corporate walls..
The playlist functionality and the db that stores all of music data in iTunes is something that can only be found in just that... There's MusicMatch, but to me, that program is just clunky and slow...

iTunes is good for OS X, but nothing can compare to Soundjam MP for OS 9.

thanks guys since I'm using OS 9.2 at work base on what you guys say I will try "SoundJam:" to see if it use low resources I don't really care about fancy features I have over 4000 mp3s and all I care is something that use low resource, can be reduce to the smaller size possible on the screen and stay on top of all my open applications. I play randomly whatever type of music I feel like listening at the moment
Here is a screen shot of how my winamp looks like when I'm working and listening to the music at home, http://24.42.199.212/winamp/ this is what I'm looking for in a MP3 player for a Mac, easy to make small on the screen with accessibility to the play, pause, back & forward buttons, low resource to run, random play, and the ability to play all types of sound files from CD's to MP3 at my hard drive
