hey,
saw the announcement on the macnn news page for this NEW Formac Studio DV...but didn't they already have a Formac Studio? isn't this the same thing they had before, except in white? (check out a pic here )
from what i can tell, the only changes they made were taking out the tv/radio tuner, and coloring it white...oh, and adding 'DV' to the end of the name.
so, for anyone who's got a Formac Studio, is this thing the same product they've always had?

Sure looks like it (-TV/FM tuner), same specs and everything.

I suspect Formac was getting beat up by Dazzle and the other sub-$300 converters, so they decided to release a cheaper, stripped-down version.

You can still get the Dazzle cheaper. $250-$260.

The TV Tuner was removed... From one of the reviews I read they found a loss of quality (more interference) with the TV Tuner built in. It is still more expensive than others, but it's probably better quality than the old model, and a little less expensive.
