I decided to buy QT6 Pro and the MPEG2 add-on, but I can't figure out how to edit MPEG files. For example, I would like to be able to create clips or merge MPEG's together.
Can it be done? I don't want to have to export the MPEG files to Quicktime first just to do some basic editing.
Thanks.

In QT5 with MPEG-1, at least, you can still copy and paste by making a selection with the little ticks and then dragging the selected movie onto another movie, which pastes the selection right after where the playhead is on the dragged-to movie

Doesn't seem to work. With MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files all of the cut/copy/paste menu items are grayed out. I can drag from a Quicktime movie, but not from the MPEG files. I can set the tick marks, but it doesn't do anything but let me play the clip.

looks like you're right. in QT6 pro and mpeg-1, the dragging trick no longer works. It worked in QT5

After I installed QT6 Pro, I copied the QT5 Player from my backup...that will allow me to edit my mpeg1 files. but still keep my QT6 install intact.
if you need a copy of the QT5 player, send me a PM and I will email it to ya..

Thanks for the email Cory. Unfortunately, it still didn't work for me. I tried all kinds of stuff without any luck. It's either:
1) I never had QT5 registered.
2) The MPEG files I am using is incompatible (generated from Windows)
3) I am brain dead and doing something funky.
I guess it's not that important. I am just disappointed to spend $50 and not have a basic feature like this.
Thanks for all of oyour help.

Why don't you try installing QT5 and using the QT6 Pro registration code on it.

Corys was nice enough to send me QT5 via email, but it didn't work any differently for me.
In any case, I don't need it that desperately. I am more disappointed with QT6 than anything else.
