I was thinking about upgrading to QT-Pro and I wondered if I bought the QT-pro registration key for OS9, would the same registration number work for the OSX version?

I don't know about QT6 (do they even have that for OS 9?), but the QT5 Pro key works in both operating systems.

Thanks, yes, QT6 ia available for OS9 too. BTW, do you think that the upgrade is worth the money to upgrade to Pro?

It would have been nice of Apple to offer a 10 day trial or something.

It depend on what you want to do. If you need one of the export codecs QT Pro offers or the in QT player editing then the $30 is well spent. If you're only look at the ability to save web QuickTime movies and/or full screen playback then that is more of a personal decision. I needed the export options for a project I was working on but I must say the many other features were real nice for the price.

The minor editing is the biggest reason to get QT Pro. Full screen playback, saving QT files, and even exporting can be done using shareware/freeware, but with less convenience, obviously. SimpleImage is a nice shareware for full screen playback and exporting. There are free applescripts and apps for full screen playback also. Just check out http://www.versiontracker.com. and type in full screen.
